MSE continues to expand its activities to pursue a higher level of excellence for our students, faculty and staff, including
· Expanding scholarship opportunities for our students at all levels.
· Maintaining the national recognition our students have achieved through their professional activities, such as three consecutive years as a Material Advantage Chapter of Excellence.
· Continue to publish the internationally recognized Journal of Undergraduate Materials Research (JUMR) and to run the annual symposia associated with the JUMR at the Materials Science & Technology conferences.
· Broadening the MSE/ESM Communications Program to include an emphasis in professional development.
· Continuing to play a leadership role in the MSE-initiated Nanoscale Characterization and Fabrication Laboratory (NCFL).
· Completing the VT FIRE (Foundry Institute for Research and Education) Initiative.
· Developing fully the international programs.
