  MSE Advisory Board Members

The MSE Advisory Board:

The MSE Department maintains an active advisory board. The Board was initially chartered in 1994 for the purpose of promoting dialogue between interested and representative industrial-based alumni and the faculty of the Department. A major reorganization of the Board was effected in 2002 to include several non-alumni members as well as broader representation of defined department constituencies. For example, the Board now includes members from peer academic institutions to represent the interests of graduate programs that accept our students, and to receive benefit from the shared experiences of those institutions. Overall, the Board is relatively diverse in its make-up, essentially reflecting the off-campus subset of the Department’s constituency. Individual Board members are motivated to serve the Department by their interests in MSE as potential employers of its graduates (e.g, industrial members), as a potential source of graduate students for their academic programs (e.g., members from academia), and/or to enhance the reputation of the program (e.g., alumni of the Department). Advisory Board members are asked to serve three-year terms, with opportunities for continuation by mutual agreement.
